- There are a number of products that do this, SequelLink is one
- which I have looked at, the other is QELIB from Pioneer Software
- and SQL Retriever from Visionware. However at present these are
- only available for use with the DOS/W3 version of W4GL. In truth
- they are simply DLLs that can be called from any Windows 3
- application, and hence from W4GL/DOS. Several versions are
- available for different backend servers, including Dbase!
-
- All the DLL procedures need to be defined to W4GL and they arn't
- really that well integrated, although SequelLink is perhaps the
- best.
-
- You still need an Ingres server for development though.
-
- I am also not sure of the Ingres support issues when you call
- third party routines. I had quite a few problems with General
- Protection violations, there is little help with parameter
- validation passed to external routines.
-
- I think SequeLink may provide a set of unix callable routines
- in the future.
