- Subject: FLIMPORT equivalent for Pdox 4.0??
- Lines: 23
-
- I am downloading large ascii fixed-length data files from our IBM mainframe
- and need to import these into Paradox 4.0 tables. The record and field
- lengths of the ascii files are fixed (not comma or space delimited).
-
- I have discovered that Pdox 3.5 has a utility called FLIMPORT.EXE which
- allows you to basically create a file-definition template by providing
- the the starting position and length of each ascii field and the name and
- file type of the corresponding Paradox table field. This seems at first
- glance to be pretty handy.
-
-
- However, I have 2 questions:
-
- 1) Why is there no FLIMPORT equivalent supplied with Pdox 4.0?
-
- 2) From your experience, what is the best way to import these types of
- ascii files, i.e. is there a better way than using FLIMPORT?
-
- Thanks in advance.
