  12. Good morning.
  13. I am currently embroiled in a project involving MPEG I encoding.
  14. We are attempting at this time to establish a feasible method of 
  15. achieving our goals "off-line" but the prospects of theoretically
  16. be able to encode in realtime loom temptingly in the immediate future.
  17. Does anyone know what it will take to do realtime MPEG audio encoding,
  18. layer I?  Layers II or III?
  19. Can we reasonably do this with a DSP card in a PC?  Two cards, maybe?
  20. Or even a hopped up PC by itself?
  21. As long as I'm asking, does anyone have any horsepower estimates for what
  22. it would take to accomplish the video encoding in realtime?
