  12. There may be other groups in which this question can be posted,
  13. but it seems appropriate to compression as well. The first two
  14. audio layers in the proposed MPEG standard include psychoacoustic
  15. masking to compress the audio portion of video, in addition to
  16. subband coding.  Are there any good references or overview
  17. papers on this topic?
