Software tested on a Powerbook 100, 2/20 and 4/20.
fmap resource: Paste this into a COPY of your finder using ResEdit 2.1.1. Use the same I.D. #. What this does: Opens up SuperPaint if an anonymously-created PICT or PNTG file is double-clicked on. Opens up Microsoftâ Word if a MacWrite document is launched with MacWrite unavailable. Opens up Teach Text if a MS Word file didn't come with MS Word. ;-) Opens up Stuffit Expander if you launch either a Compact Pro, Stuffit Deluxe, or Stuffit Lite document and do not have access to the full model. Also, it will open up EPSF art in Freehand, and launches FSSD (Sound files) into SoundMover.
fmnu resource: Paste this into a COPY of your finder using ResEdit 2.1.1 Use the same ID #s. What this does: Cmd-M for Make Alias. Cmd-Q for Clean-Up (?works for me?). Cmd-T for Empty Trash. Cmd-R for Restart, and Cmd-S for Shutdown. I am unable to currently find where the Finder is hiding the 'Sleep' menu command, but when I do find it, I will automate that too. (Apple?) Until then, SuperClock 3.9.1 has a wonderful hidden function for Powerbooks - option-clicking on it will send your computer to sleep.
CURS resource: Paste this in a COPY of your System using ResEd 2.1.1. Replace Exisiting ID (aka use the same ID #). This changes your cursor to a hollow cursor instead of that stupid watch when the finder works on something briefly. However, the watch still exists in your ACUR resource and ROM (I think), so a) you'll still get the watch from time to time, and b) you'll want to change your ACUR resource. (See HMG ResEdit Primer for instructions on this)
ICN#s resource: Paste in System COPY. (Replace Existing ID. . . ) The Powerbook oriented icons that Apple forgot. If you like them, write me, and I'll e-mail you my desktop's icon hacks. I went through and changed all the "Classic Mac" designs into the Powerbook design. Some are pretty neat - ESPECIALLY the 'Mouse' Control Panel icon (Instead of the icon looking like a hand-held/desktop mouse, it shows a trackball).
