-
- Well, I don't know what you mean by "take advantage of the info." I played
- around with my v.32bis SupraFaxModem, with having it report the actual DTE
- connect string as opposed to the default, the locked DCE speed. I've got
- locked:19200 and driver:fossil in my static file, I've got the actual port
- locked using BNU1.70 and I've locked the port speed using the appropriate
- modem register setting (which I don't have handy). So, the callers log
- file shows every connection at 19200, and DSZ estimates down/upload times
- using 19200. Other than that, I don't see how "Waffle" takes advantage of
- the reported connect speeds.
-
- So, when I set up the modem to report the DTE speed instead of the locked
- speed, everything was neat, with one exception. The "gotcha" that hit me
- is that the SFM will report "CONNECT 14400" for incoming v.32bis calls.
- Waffle doesn't know anything about such a speed, and will immediately
- drop carrier on the incoming call. For obvious reasons, I have gone back
- to the old configuration.
-
- When I get some time, I plan to go into the source code and add 14400 as
- a valid connect speed. Hopefully, nothing will break when I make that
- patch. Seems like I may have already seen a diff-patch posted to the
- group? Maybe I'm dreaming...
