- I only disable MNP-5 for outbound calls of any sort, including UUCP, and
- I *still* get 1300+ cps with v.32bis and 900+ cps with v.32 on 50k+ news
- batches (16-bit compressed). This would not seem to support your theory,
- at least on my machine.
-
- Of course, there are so many variables that can come into play with
- telecommunications that it might take awhile to isolate what is causing
- such low throughputs. If you have an 80386DX at 25 Mhz or faster running
- a single node, you *should* be able to get very close to the throughputs I
- get consistantly.
-
- My system runs two nodes on a 40Mhz 80386DX with 16 Meg of RAM under
- OS/2 2.0 with the Service Pack installed using Ray Gwinn's SIO/VSIO
- drivers. Waffle 1.65 lives quite happily in a DOS session on node 2.
