  21. HYTELNET version 6.3, the utility which gives an IBM-PC user
  22. instant-access to all Internet-accessible library catalogs, FREE-NETS,
  23. CWISs, BBSs, Gophers, WAIS, etc. is now available. You can get it via
  24. anonymous ftp from:

  28. in the pub/hytelnet/pc subdirectory. It is listed as HYTELN63.ZIP.

  30. Version 6.3 is a major upgrade. Much redundant information has been
  31. deleted, and errors have been corrected. New subdirectories have been
  32. added, which has meant that many files now have a more meaningful home.
  33. Also all the new/updated files created since Version 6.2 have been
  34. incorporated.

  36. Note: the UNZIPPED files total over 1.2 mb...but remember, you can
  37. always edit out any information you do not need, in order to save space.

  39. Information from Roy Tennant follows, slightly edited, describing how to
  40. obtain HYTELNET 6.3 from the ftp site (thanks Roy)::

  42. TO RETRIEVE HYTELNET:
  43. At your system prompt, enter:               ftp access.usask.ca
  44.       or                                    ftp 128.233.3.1
  45. When you receive the Name prompt, enter:    anonymous
  46. When you receive the password prompt, enter your Internet address.
  47. When you are at the ftp> prompt, enter:     binary
  48. At the next ftp> prompt, enter:             cd pub/hytelnet/pc
  49. Then enter:                                 get hyteln63.zip
  50. After the transfer has occurred, either
  51.    proceed with the instructions below to
  52.    retrieve the UNZIP utility (which you
  53.    need unless you already have it) or enter:   quit
  54.  
  55. The Hytelnet program is archived using a ZIP utility.  To unarchive it,
  56. you must be able to "unzip" the file.  If you have the file PKUNZIP.EXE,
  57. it will unarchive the HYTELN63.ZIP file (see below for instructions). If
  58. you do not have it, you may retrieve it with by following these
  59. instructions:

  61. TO RETRIEVE PKUNZIP:
  62. Use the above instructions for connecting to access.usask.ca
  63. At the ftp> prompt, enter:                   binary
  64. Then enter:                                  cd pub/hytelnet/pc
  65. Then enter:                                  get pkunzip.exe
  66. After the transfer has occurred, enter:      quit

  68. TO DOWNLOAD IT TO YOUR PC:
  69. Because of the plethora of PC communications programs, I will not
  70. attempt to give step-by-step instructions here.  You should check the
  71. instructions for your software for downloading a *binary* file from your
  72. Internet account to your PC.

  74. TO UNARCHIVE HYTELN63.ZIP:
  75. Make a new directory on your hard disk (e.g., mkdir hytelnet)
  76. Copy PKUNZIP.EXE and HYTELN63.ZIP into the new directory
  77. Make sure you are in that directory, then enter: pkunzip HYTELN63
  78. It will then unarchive HYTELN63.ZIP, which contains the following files:

  80.                              HYTELNET.ZIP
  81.                              READNOW

  83. The file READNOW. gives full instructions for un-archiving HYTELNET.ZIP.
  84. Simply put, you **MUST** unZIP the file with the -d parameter so that
  85. all the subdirectories will be recursed.

  87. To use HYTELNET, you should refer to the instructions in the release
  88. announcement by Peter Scott, or to the README file included with the
  89. package.

  92. who are unfamiliar with the steps required to download and use files
  93. from network sources.  I cannot be responsible for any local variations
  94. in these procedures which may exist.  Please contact your local computer
