- Both Arthur and Clayton have missed the point. Descrimination is as much a
- problem now as it has ever been. People do not notice it and further they do
- not realize where the problems lie. I agree that it is the liberal issue to
- through money down the hole and call it fixing the problem. The problem is
- not just a black problem but a problem affecting all of us. The white
- middle class will be in the same boat soon enough. The corporations that
- have given us computers and cars and video games are moving where they get
- the most bang for their buck. The people at the lower end of the economic
- scale get it first and it trickles up the socio-economic ladder. Drugs are
- big business items to the american corporate ladder as well. The money is
- laundered here, and both the DEA and the other inept branches of the gov.
- are unwilling to identify the real culprits.
-
- It is easy to sit back and say that they choose the drug life over conven-
- tional consumer lifestyles because for the most part they live in communities
- where the schools are sub-standard, teachers do not want to work there, jobs
- are non-existent and the good life is rubbed in there face every day. If you
- want to see what America could be or should be, go to South America , go to
- Europe and see what life is all about. America has been so protected and
- selfish to its own that we are more apt to help keep american interests abroad
- in control of their "assets" than we are to rebuild the infrastructure of
- America , rebuild its educational system and ensure that America is able to
- be some kind of leader (intellectually and technically) in the 21 century.
-
- How many of you out there have spent time in ghetto's or talked to people
- living in them? Or do you get your "truth" from the net and TV. It is
- scary in the ghetto - I do not like going there. But I know what the problems
- are first hand and I will do more than just talk. Will you.
