- Greetings:
-
- The following problem came to my attention through the node
- administrator for ASU and ASUACAD. These two nodes have the same
- servers tag as follows:
-
- :servers1.MAILER@ASU(MAIL,PU ND,M,BSMTP,P_POSTMAST)
-
- MAILER@ASU is the server for both ASUACAD and ASU. the following
- is the entry in XMAILER NAMES for ASUACAD.
-
- :nick.ASUACAD :alias.ASUACAD :net.BITNET :mailer.MAILER@ASU :netsoft.RSCS
- V3R1
-
- It seems that recently, while receiving mail from listserv@JPNTUVM0, the
- mailer at that node sent mail for user@asuacad to user@asu, if you
- look at the mail below JPNTUVM0 substituted USER@ASU FOR USER@ASUACAD
-
- (The To: lines and the Received: line in the bounced mail
- below will clairify what I am trying to say.)
-
- When we queried the mailer options at node JPNTUVM0, we got the following
-
- ALIAS HOST USERID EXIT
- ________ _______ __________ _____________
- ASU ASU MAILER DEFRT
- ASUACAD ASU MAILER DEFRT
-
- Now, since defualt route is specified as an exit, should there not be
- a mailer defined ? (How could this happen ?, should it not default to
- BSMTP if a mailer is specified ?)
-
- Also, is it possible that the mailer@JPNTUVM) when delivering mail to
- user@asucad packaged the envelope first for mailer@asu (since there is
- a mailer defined), then since DEFRT is specified, subsituted the user
- id for mailer, thus mis-addressing the mail ?
-
- Your help would be appreciated,
-
- Marco Hernandez
