- Might I take the opportunity of the presidential inauguration to send
- best wishes to the people of the United States and especially the American
- members of this list.
-
- We have spent a lot of time recently arguing about democracy and communications
- and never reached a conclusion. However, through all the razamatazz and
- confusion the American people did elect a president. That, in all its
- imperfections, is something to celebrate.
-
- The world has changed a lot and the old certainties have been replaced by
- new confusions. Maybe its an illusion brought about by media exposure but
- I think that Clinton may be able to deal with these issues in a more open
- and better way.
-
- Best wishes
- Gerry
