- There must be something in the air down here - I'm still sweating in Florida,
- though almost everyone I see is wearing a sweater against the 'cold' 65
- degree weather. When I was growing up in NYC, we swam in the Atlantic
- Ocean (or at least played therein til our lips turned blue) from
- Memorial Day thru Labor Day. Except, of course, for August, which was
- polio season, and we were forbidden to put our faces near the water.

- Speaking of polio: I wonder sometimes whether the fear of AIDS is
- related to the fact that we have so few other contagious killers
- nowadays. We don't -expect- to 'catch' fatal diseases. Can any
- of you imagine being a parent in pre-antibiotic days?
