  12. Eight people voted today on the eight sites.  And eight has always been
  13. my favorite number.  Interesting.  I'm leaving the doggykins out of the
  14. tally since somebody would probably say something horribly specist if I
  15. included him, and that would hurt his feelings.  The following tally
  16. represents votes by these people:  abh, bz, Chris S, Evelyn, Judith,
  17. Karen, Natalie, Rashmi.

  19. I had thought originally that a "No" by anybody for any one of the sites
  20. would rule it out by blackball.  But that, alas, would rule out all eight
  21. sites.  No site was without at least one "no."  Toronto was the only one
  22. of the eight that received only ONE no, however.  All others received at
  23. least two.

  25. Toronto and Portland are neck and neck.  Of the people returning the forms,
  26. either on the list or directly to me, 3 ranked Toronto #1, 1 ranked it #3,
  27. and 1 ranked it #5.  On the returned forms, Portland received 1 #1 ranking,
  28. 1 #2 ranking, 1 #3 ranking, and 1 #6 ranking.  In addition, it received
  29. 2 votes from people who didn't use the form, thus putting it in a tie
  30. with Toronto with 3 #1 votes.  Toronto received 1 no.  Portland received
  31. 2 nos.

  33. Here's a quick summary of the other rankings:

  35. Elsehwere, NC: 1, 4, 7, no, no
  36. Edinburg, TX: 7, 8, no, no, no
  37. Galway, Ireland: 1, 3, no, no, no
  38. Elsewhere, Ireland: 2, 2, no, no, no
  39. Starkville, MS: 6, 8, no, no, no
  40.  
  41. By a point system of 1=8, 2=7, 3=6, 4=5, 5=4, 6=3, 7=2, 8=1, and no= -5,
  42. Toronto and Portland come out tied at 30.
