- Sri Lanka is home to Theravada Buddism (I believe only Singapore or some
- such place is predominantly so). Anyone interested in the history of the
- religion should make it a point to go to Sri Lanka. Dambulla Caves with
- enormous statuary; Adam's Peak, the 3+ miles of stairs is more than a
- pilgrimage to see the Buddah's Footprint at the top...day's dawning affords
- a glimpse into one of the unsolved mysteries of nature--a perfect isoceles
- triangle which appears briefly on the clouds; and Sigiriya, home of an
- ancient monastery, entered through the Lion's Paws gate, past the ancient
- frescos, to gingerly climb up the terraced sides of the rock to the top and
- the magnificent panorama that awaits; Anurada Purna, another pilgrimage
- site, with the gorgeous white stupas surrounding the main building (I don't
- know that it's called a stupa, probably something else more like temple).
-
- Enough reminiscing. It's driving me bats...
