- Hai, dozo, Karen. Portland holds few <charms>, all I can say. If we're
- gonna do West Coast, let's do SF. But again, we run into the fact that
- only a small contingent of Wordslers would find that venue convenient or
- doable. NC is hardly hot in the summer, unless you call temperatures in
- the 80's hot. If you want heat to complain about, let's have it in
- Austin--there is no hotter oven in hell than Austin in the summer. As for
- humidity, come to Edinburg...we have 96%RH from April to November--my skin
- get so dependent on atmospheric moisture that the first few days I spend
- out of the Valley I shed scale like a fish. No, NC, or any other beautiful
- place on the eastern seaboard is far likelier to give people a chance to
- come. Boston is also likely to produce a good turnout.
-
- But again, who says we all have to do the same party?
-
- And yes, to hope for another Providence-like idyll with gracious hostesses
- and overrunning bathrooms is probably too much. But that's just me, ever
- the dreamer.
