- I sense from some of the morning messages that Portland, City of Roses has
- fallen into disfavor, at least as a site for List Gathering 1993. Before
- irrevocable decisions are made, or unrecallable words uttered, let me list
- some of the consequences of changing the site. (Bear in mind that I am
- one of those who would attend even if the 5th Circle of Hell were the
- locus, so I have no personal stake here.)
-
- 1) Neal Traven will be absolutely devastated when he resets mail.
-
- 2) Judith can travel to the PNW at any time, for she has progeny there.
-
- 3) Dan, Chris, and Peter are remarkably close, not to mention the
- Portlanders themselves -- Clint and Carol. Who am I forgetting?
-
- 4) All of California is within a drive or a short flight. Emily has
- spoken of riding the train to Portland; indeed, she may have taken
- concrete steps toward this goal.
-
- 5) If organizational zeal is wanting, think: Jenna and Pea are moving
- out there this spring. Jenna knows how to crack the whip.
-
- 6 - 10) These additional points are currently in inactive memory.
