  11. The current issue of _The Chronicle of Higher Education_ carries an
  12. interesting article about acceptable use of Internet, especially when
  13. the NSFNET backbone (I gather there is really no way of knowing) is
  14. used. Unacceptable is "Extensive use for private or personal business"!
  15. But the director of the division "acknowledges that the NSF is not likely
  16. to start shutting off access to the Internet if it finds that someone has
  17. been using it to send a love note in the form of electronic mail." He says,
  18. "By and large I'm a pretty liberal guy, because I think that people should
  19. use computers in ways that make them comfortable with computers." Comforting!
