- How about me, non-Salvadorian. I'm sitting here at work with a busted
- PC. Smoke began pouring out of it this morning. The service contract
- technicians are supposed to come and fix it...sometime. Ever try to
- get a brand new motherboard (love that term!) for a 286 IBM clone made
- by Olivetti and wearing an AT&T deathstar logo? I have about 80 megs
- worth of dead files in there that I'm probably going to lose: thank
- God for backups. MAYBE they can get me a rebuilt board by
- cannibalizing another machine, since AT&T no longer supports its own
- product line (and didn't when they did). We've been told that the
- entire Division is supposed to get 486 machines from our new captive
- company, NCR...sooooooooooon!
-
- In the meantime, in betweentime, maybe somebody wants to donate a nice
- 486DX/50 with about 32 meg RAM and a 600 MB hard drive to a nice guy
- in the First World who is working in a company that treats him like a
- Colonial. I don't need a monitor, that's okay....
