- The first Mothers' Day (or is it Mother's Day?) that I was a mother my
- husband gave me a huge plant for our foyer, one he had been eying for a
- long time. His is the green thumb in this household and I am the one who,
- at that time, knew a rose from a daisy and that is about the extent of it.
- My feelings were hurt big time because I knew it was for himself really,
- and even his "but the best gifts are supposed to be the ones you would
- like yourself" didn't sooth my ruffled feathers. But I did remember his
- philosophy, and for Fathers' Day he received a lovely dress I had been
- eying for a long time.
