- First off, Brian should make sure he's running MS-DOS 5 (I know this
- sounds painfully obvious, but stranger things have happened). The file
- Windows is looking for is needed only in such a case. Secondly, I have
- heard of other who have the problem Brian has but whose systems include
- the file in question in the root directory of the boot drive and whose
- systems work just dandy in enhanced mode despite the appearnace of this
- message. (There was a series of questions about just this topic in the
- past month or so on BIX/WIX). In short, if you're running DOS 5, get
- the file and put it where Windows can find it (either the DOS 5 docs or
- a readme file tells you how to put that file elsewhere if you wish, but
- it involves an additional line in your config.sys file). If you're not
- running DOS 5, it's probably superfluous. As long as enhanced mode is
- working, all's well.
-
- Good Luck!
