  10. Hello.  My name is Brian, and .. I am .. a .. Windows user.
  11.   (Sorry, but after all those years that I have prophesized DOS over 
  12. Windows in almost any situation, I felt I had to say that.)

  14. Anyways, I have a question about 386 Enhanced installation of Windows 3.1.  I'm 
  15. pretty sure that I have 386 enhanced installed because I am able to run 
  16. non-Windows applications in a window.  BUT.  I have noticed many times that 
  17. when I leave Windows a short message appears after it has successfully exited, 
  18. just as I notice it, the screen clears and the message is never heard from 
  19. again.

  21. Well.  Today I decided to try my ability to pause the screen before it cleared 
  22. when I exited.  (not easy on a 386-40.)  I finally was able to read it:

  24.     "You must have the file WINA20.386 in the root of your boot
  25.      drive to run Windows in 386 Enhanced mode."

  27. When I searched my drive for that file, it was nowhere to be found.  But I'm 
  28. POSITIVE that I'm in 386 Enhanced.  Does anyone know what's going on?  Is it 
  29. just a bug?  Am I running in Standard and NOT Enhanced?  Any help would be 
  30. greatly appreciated.

  33.   (P.S.  I still haven't completely deserted the DOS prompt for Windows.  There 
  34.    are still MANY advantages that DOS has that Windows may never have.)
