- Jerome,
-
- I am not familiar with the LAN you mentioned. We are doing exactly what you
- described with NetWare, only we can connect to the network and the mainframe.
-
- The user logs into our network before we start windows. In fact, windows is on
- the file server, so they cannot get into windows without logging into the
- network. We load all the netware drivers high to leave room for windows.
-
- With our setup, like your I believe, you can only get to the mainframe from
- the network. We are using WSLAN and TN3270 software. WSLAN did not want to
- load under windows, so at first, we had to load WSLAN (a TSR) then load
- windows. We then created an icon which executed the necessary "JUMP" command
- to to jump to the mainframe session. This solution of course meant you could
- run no other application from windows. WSLAN took 320, windows took 320, the
- netware drivers took all available UMBs. We heard a rumor a windows version of
- WSLAN was coming out, and was waiting for that.
-
- However, after creating a PIF file for a batch file which executed WSLAN, we
- were finally able to run WSLAN under windows totally - without having to start
- it before starting windows.
-
- We never had trouble starting TN3270 software under windows.
-
- I know this doesn't solve your problem, but perhaps you can get some ideas to
- try out from this note. I have seen IRMA (SP?) a mainframe emulation program,
- advertised for as little as $99.00 if you have a competitor's product. It
- works under windows. Good luck.
