- I do most of my flying on NW. Their standard bump vouchers used to be
- tickets on which reservations could only be made 24 or 48 hours in advance.
- Since I lived in St. Paul that wasn't too much of a problem. One day, though,
- they did cancel the flight that I had reserved using such a voucher. They
- protected me with a later flight, but that wouldn't work; it was a one day
- out and back to see a dying relative in the hospital. I explained my problem
- and they took care of a ticket on another carrier so I could make it work.
- That did endear me to them.
-
- Now NW issues $300 transportation checks good on any ticket within a year.
- So, there are no problems with blackouts or standby or anything. The
- check can be applied to any ticket, at any fair. Although the cash value is
- a bit less, the flexibility is great. I love to be bumped by NW.
