  16. I do most of my flying on NW.  Their standard bump vouchers used to be
  17. tickets on which reservations could only be made 24 or 48 hours in advance.
  18. Since I lived in St. Paul that wasn't too much of a problem.  One day, though,
  19. they did cancel the flight that I had reserved using such a voucher.  They
  20. protected me with a later flight, but that wouldn't work; it was a one day
  21. out and back to see a dying relative in the hospital.  I explained my problem
  22. and they took care of a ticket on another carrier so I could make it work.
  23. That did endear me to them.

  25. Now NW issues $300 transportation checks good on any ticket within a year.
  26. So, there are no problems with blackouts or standby or anything.  The
  27. check can be applied to any ticket, at any fair.  Although the cash value is
  28. a bit less, the flexibility is great.  I love to be bumped by NW.
