  13. Many thanks to the nice people who responded to my request for
  14. information on dos-based, shareware software for non-parametric
  15. methods.  Among the recommendations were MYSTAT and KWIKSTAT.
  16.  
  17. I found data entry rather awkward for MYSTAT as characters have
  18. to be encased within quotes and my students are certainly not
  19. going to like that.  KWIKSTAT was more user-friendly and I
  20. was beginning to like it until I tried out the non-parametric
  21. procedures.  To my chagrin, KWIKSTAT does non-parametric
  22. analysis for independent groups only.  Hence, there was no way
  23. in which I could use it for Wilcoxon's matched-pairs, signed-ranks
  24. test, unless I am still looking at the older version. I was
  25. trying out version 2.12.
