- Information obtained by reliable border sources have confirmed
- that on the night of 9th and 10th January 1993, approximately 100
- Chinese army trucks travelled from Mang Shi in Yunnan province to
- Shwe Li in Burma. These trucks were carrying a shipment of
- military equipment. Witnesses on the Burma side then reported
- that the equipment was transferred to a waiting Burmese army
- convoy.

- This is further confirmation of information obtained earlier that
- the PRC and SLORC had agreed upon the transfer of arms and
- ammunition from the PRC for use on the Thai Burmese border.

- Arrangements between SLORC and the PRC for payment of the
- military equipment includes payment over a period of three years,
- permission for China to extract natural resources from Burma, and
- continuation of military training from China . The Burmese army
- is currently partcipating in military training in Chen Du,
- Sichuan Province, the training is said to be for the use of
- sophisticated weapons.

- In November 1992, two meetings were held between SLORC and Yunnan
- officialsanf the following was agreed to:

- 1.There will be a motorway built between Ta Haw Hka in Yunnan
- province and Hka Shang in Kachin state undertaken by authorities
- in Teng Chung district, Yunnan province.

- 2.The construction of a Burma-China motorway across Sima, which
- will be undertaken by Yunnan province.

- 3.Construction of the Myitkyina-Nam Si Aung motorway will also be
- undertaken by Yunnan province.

- 4.Construction of a hydroelectric station by the Chinese to
- supply power to Myitkyina and Bhamo.

- 5.Both sides have agreed that there should be no KIO presence 40
- miles either side of the Myitkyina-Bhamo motorway.

- 6.SLORC have agreed to allow Chinese businesses to set up in
- Myitkyina and Bhamo.

- 7.SLORC will allow Chinese experts to help extract Burma's
- natural resources.

- 8.Household goods will be imported from China.
