- For those of you who have been anxiously waiting on the edge of your
- seats for this solution, here it is. An informat statement by
- default(apparently) does not trim leading blanks and therefore
- the spacing of most ascii-delimited files will create inaccuracies
- when read. The way to get around this is to use the colon
- modifier in an input statement. i.e.
- "input sysdate mmddyy8. systime:time8.;"
- The main assumption appears to be that files that are in an informat
- mode are not delimited and are in fixed(as opposed to free) format.
