- The question is not one of disparaging psychoanalyitic theory because
- it may be eurocentrist, but rather to remain open to the possibility that
- the assumption of psychoanalytic thought may not be universal. Much of the
- assumptions around Oedipal wishes, penis envy are not biological, but cultural.
- The role of the the parents is based on Western models of family. Thus, some ar

- lead to question if it applies to all ethnic groups within the US or to the
- actions of person outside the Western culture.
