  17. My remarks regarding tribal behavior and eurocentric psychoanalytic theory
  18. were very much off the cuff.  I have thopght some more about the tribal part
  19. however.  As I recall, Kohlberg's theory of Moral Development identifies his
  20. third (of six) stage as being "tribal", wherein behavior is designed to fit in
  21. and win approval of the immediate group.  This is a diferent (lower) level than
  22. mainstream USA and may point to why gang behavior is seen as inherently amoral/
  23. immoral.
