  13. I'm sorry if this example has already been used.  I haven't been following
  14. the letters on this topic.  Never the less, here is a anecdote for
  15. you all.

  17. In my pregraduate year, if I remember correctly, one of my professors
  18. cited a study in social psychology, a study of proximity.  You know the
  19. old phenomenon that shows people walking faster down the hall if they have
  20. to walk between two people having a conversation; that shows automobile
  21. drivers driving away from a stop sign at faster speeds if there is someone
  22. at the corner watching the driver.  Evidently, as the professor cites, in men
  23. there is a correlation between length of time spent urinating and
  24. distance between the man standing at the next urinal.  The closer men stand
  25. next to each other while urinating, the faster they pee.

  27. The professor was not teaching us social psychology at the time, but rather
  28. research methods and the importance of ethical consideration.  Evidently,
  29. the researcher had mounted a camera in the men's bathroom.  The class got a
  30. kick out of the idea that someone would actually be so bold to mount a
  31. camera in the bathroom.
