  16.         As a former member of our armed forces I can tel you that the idea is a
  17.  freightning thought.  Yet it is an equally scary thought of having legalize
  18.  discrimination.

  24. Our constitution is not there just to defend the rights of the majority.  The
  25.  constitution has a higher cause of defending the rights of the minority.  I
  26.  feel like a hypocrite when I use to say that gays should not be allowed in the
  27.  military.  I do not like feeling like a hypocrite.  Yet I remember the days of
  28.  doing pushups naked in the community showers at basic training.  It bothers me
  29.  to think that some of the guys there could have been gay.  As time passed I got
  30.  accustomed to changing uniforms in zulu drills in front of the women of my
  31.  platoon.  If the military could adapt to women and African Americans in the
  32.  military they can also adapt to homosexuals.  If you would remember history
  33.  there were people who said that if African Americans were allowed in the
  34.  military they would destroy the greatest fighting force in America.  When
  35.  Eisenhower lifted the ban he was hated but then he went down as one of the
  36.  greatest Presidents in history.  We find ourselves at the same point in
  37.  history.  It is unpopular it i
