- Our constitution is not there just to defend the rights of the majority. The
- constitution has a higher cause of defending the rights of the minority. I
- feel like a hypocrite when I use to say that gays should not be allowed in the
- military. I do not like feeling like a hypocrite. Yet I remember the days of
- doing pushups naked in the community showers at basic training. It bothers me
- to think that some of the guys there could have been gay. As time passed I got
- accustomed to changing uniforms in zulu drills in front of the women of my
- platoon. If the military could adapt to women and African Americans in the
- military they can also adapt to homosexuals. If you would remember history
- there were people who said that if African Americans were allowed in the
- military they would destroy the greatest fighting force in America. When
- Eisenhower lifted the ban he was hated but then he went down as one of the
- greatest Presidents in history. We find ourselves at the same point in
