- Hello Everyone!
-
- Just a few notes:
-
- I) I did it again! I made a reference to the location of the Pagemaker
- directory in the FAQ that is incorrect. The files are in the
- /doc/misc/pagemakr directory on WUARCHIVE.WUSTL.EDU and *not*
- /misc/doc/pagemakr. I apologize!
-
- II) Happy Birthday to the list! We are now 3 years old this January and
- have nearly 400 direct subscribers and a great deal many more
- indirectly through distribution centers and Usenet. Thank you to
- everyone to make this list a success!
-
- III) The archives on WUARCHIVE now sport a few new additions. Henry
- Budgett's Accounting and Cashbook files are now there for public
- downloading. Thanks Henry! I have added a few more things yet again
- to the FAQs (little tips, typo corrections, and subliminal messages
- as to the superiority of the PC :)
-
- Plus, the Mac version of the archives will be updated very soon
- to correspond with the PC version.
-
- IV) Henry Budgett also made this suggestion for handling corrupted
- unrecoverable Pagemaker files (excerpted from the revised FAQ):
-
- + Finally, one last suggestion comes from Henry Budgett: for those of
- + you who are working on a Macintosh, you can try a program called
- + "CanOpener" -- it's supposed to be good at recovering files from
- + within files. In the old days of version 1 and 2 (on the Mac) there
- + was a program called The Ripper which brough your data back from the
- + dead! (PM crashed a LOT in those days!)
-
- V) James Dacey who posted to the entire list his desire to subscribe:
- the email address you gave does not exist and my mail reader
- truncates the origin of your message when it comes through the
- list. Do you (or anyone else on the list) have your full e-mail
- address so that we can get you subscribed?
-
-
- Geof.
