- Someone asked about the single-page, folded & stapled style of booklet.
- The main problem, as mentioned, is that auto page-numbering isn't
- possible, since two "pages" appear on one sheet of paper.
-
- Ah, but you can. Set up your publication pages as the actual size of
- each "page," that is, the printed area--half a regular sheet or
- whatever. Auto-number the pages, set the whole thing up. Then, use the
- Aldus Addition "Make Booklet." It will output a new file with the
- elements combined onto single-page parts, ready for printing. It will also
- make the page numbers permanents.
-
- The disadvantage, of course, is that it's difficult to edit--the stories
- get broken apart, I believe. And the page numbers can't be edited. But,
- this addition is designed to do exactly what you asked for.
-
- Caveat: the one time I tried to use it, just messing around, I found that
- my master page items were misaligned in the final output. I'm not sure
- if I had things set up wrong or what; I didn't mess with it further. So
- try it before you rely on it.
-
- You can, of course, always set it up as I've described (with half-size
- pages and auto-numbering) and then cut each page in half and re-paste
- in the appropriate arrangement. I did that for several booklets. It isn't
- the most convenient, but it's not a big deal either.
