- Library bibliographic networks in Europe : a Liber directory / edited
- by Lorcan Dempsey. - 2nd ed. - The Hague : NBLC, 1992. - 110 p.
-
- According to the backside of the cover, this book: "... brings together
- in an accessible form descriptions of library bibliographic networks
- throughout Europe. In this second edition nearly fifty detailed entries
- are included covering networks from 15 European countries. The networks
- which are described vary in size, scope and organisation but typically
- support shared cataloguing services and union catalogue services by way
- of a central database. Each entry includes details on the role and
- management structure of the network, membership, size and content of the
- database, hardware and software, network environment, operations,
- central files, standards, finance and copyright, organisational links
- with other bibliographic networks as well as a range of other practical
- information."
-
- It does not, as far I can see, register one of the most practical things
- to know: an internetnet adress! (Only that a base is reachable via the
- internet).
-
- Oh well, hope this helps!

- opc.ubn.kun.nl) If this is official, then I will post it to the list.
- We are yet testing: so don't be angry if the new OPAC is not always
- available).
- Thanks to remarks made by members on this list (after I asked for the
- necessity of searching on 'full title' and not only on 'title words'),
- this searchtool is also included. You see the impact of this list!!!!

- RARE (Reseaux Associes pour la Recherche Europeenne) Technical Report 1 is not
- an exact match for what you are looking for, but may be of interest. Entitled
- "User Support and Information Services in Europe: A Status Report" it provides
- information on 21 national networks, 1 regional network (NORDUnet) and the
- European networks CERN and EARN, with summary information, and email addresses
- for further information, on the networked library catalogues available through
- each system.
-
- Anonymous FTP to:-
- mailbase.ac.uk
- It's /pub/rare-wg3-usis/rtr-usis-92
-
- Or send message to: mailserv@file.nic.surfnet.nl
- with the following in the message part:
- send rare/RTR/RTR1.txt (or RTR1.ps)
-
- Hope this helps

- Hytelnet is an index of library catalogs accessible on-line. It
- does not connect directly, but instead gives the address and login
- information of the library. I don't know the address off hand, since the
- local university system has it on a menu.
