  21. I am looking for cataloging software that will run under Ultrix or SunOS.
  22. It will be used to track a relatively small set of manuals, periodicals,
  23. technical references, etc. for approx. 50-100 users.  Check-in and check-out
  24. are about the only requirements.  Does not have to use MARC format.  Our
  25. budget is about $500 US.

  30. Subject: cd-rom in self-service
  31. Laval University is a french language university with an enrollment of
  32. approximately 37,000 students. The Arts and Humanities Library has a
  33. collection of over 20 cd-rom titles that were consulted by more than 5000
  34. users last year.

  36. We are thinking of installing a self-service, self-reservation system.
  37. Presently, the service is controlled by the circulation desk. Under the new
  38. system, the user would be responsible for scheduling a time period for
  39. searching on his chosen database. At the scheduled time, he would retrieve the
  40. appropriate disc or discs from a cabinet and use them on one of the
  41. workstations. There would be no staff control over either the scheduling, the
  42. loan of the cd-roms or the use of the workstations.

  44. Before proceeding, we would like to know whether any other library has
  45. installed a similar system and whether there has been any problems arising
  46. such as: lost or damage of disc or workstation, conflicts between patrons or
  47. any other problem.
