- We are in the planning stages for putting up a Gateway/Menu in front of
- our library catalogs and CWIS. The Gateway will also provide access to
- other selected sources both at Harvard and elsewhere on the InterNet.
- Our current plan calls for using this Gateway as a primary connection method
- for all public users including in-library terminals via terminal servers.
- Now comes the question. Has anyone successfully used 3163's to access
- sources that run on platforms other than IBM mainframes? We've been finding
- that the 3163 is incompatible with hosts which require VT100 emulation (the
- results are so garbled as to be unusable) and we are not aware of anything
- which will translate between 3163-speak and VT100-speak. All suggestions
- and comments gratefully accepted. Thanks.
