  11. We are in the planning stages for putting up a Gateway/Menu in front of
  12. our library catalogs and CWIS.  The Gateway will also provide access to
  13. other selected sources both at Harvard and elsewhere on the InterNet.
  14. Our current plan calls for using this Gateway as a primary connection method
  15. for all public users including in-library terminals via terminal servers.
  16. Now comes the question.  Has anyone successfully used 3163's to access
  17. sources that run on platforms other than IBM mainframes?  We've been finding
  18. that the 3163 is incompatible with hosts which require VT100 emulation (the
  19. results are so garbled as to be unusable) and we are not aware of anything
  20. which will translate between 3163-speak and VT100-speak.  All suggestions
  21. and comments gratefully accepted.  Thanks.
