- Here at Indiana University we use a product called IPCP. We can close files
- from batch jobs while leaving CICS up. The problem with closing and
- disabling the file but not being able to delete the file is I believe that
- MVS still believes CICS has control of the file. When we use IPCP to close
- files, we CLOSE and DEALLOCATE the file which allows us to delete or update
- the file. As far as journal 6, we use IPCP to close the journal which has
- the same affect as dropping CICS. Our OPAC is available except between
- 2am - 5am and Sunday from 2am-10am for system work. Our CICS region is only
- recycled on Sunday
