  14. No question that quality has suffered in many cases by rqeuiring
  15. authors to be their own typists and type setters. the energy devoted to
  16. proofreading has been dissipated into other chores and frustrating
  17. exercises. the up side is that we who deal with critical texts which
  18. printers always botched when producing scientific apparatuses -- can
  19. get more accurate texts in dealing with a variety of languages. Too bad
  20. NB does not offer a proper vertical bar for these apparatuses or notes
  21. that continue horizontally rather than vertically.

  23. When i worked with pencil, typist and printer-- i was more productive.
  24. I didnt waste time playing with software-- and reading NB e-mail list.
  25. not that it is a waste of time-- but you know what i mean. i do not
  26. think this is healthy progress-- but that how things are. Those days i
  27. am afraid are gone.
