  25.     It IS necessary that the new items do not to have similar ID
  26.     numbers  (R#:NNNN) as have old items that you want to save.
  27.     Otherwise the new R#:3333 AU:Smith etc will replace the old
  28.     R#:3333 AU:Jones in your bibliographies, at least when generated
  29.     with the help of Extract and a file which contains an X6 delta
  30.     that has <tab>3333 as its last element.  The next clean-up
  31.     ("Maintain/rewrite data files...") will also physically delete all
  32.     but the last item bearing this number.   I've seen both things
  33.     happen.

  35.     I now 'manually' start such separate nbbib.dat files with an
  36.     unused R#: number (and merge them with the master files before the
  37.     number range is used, hopefully).  Didn't think of deleting those
  38.     numbers, but that might be a more flexible solution for many
  39.     cases. Thanks!
