- Perhaps I should supply a description of the little "race" Eric and
- I have been running.
-
- 1) The list involved is NOVELL@SUVM. It's large, 1,200+ subscribers
- and active, 100+ postings per day on most week days.
-
- 2) Approximately 1/3 of the subscribers have BITNET addresses.
-
- 3) A second 1/3 have domain addresses served by a specific gateway
- named in DOMAIN NAMES
-
- 4) The remaining third have domain addresses served by SMTP@INTERBIT.
- These addresses are routed through SMTP@SUVM by modifying
- DOMAIN NAMES.
-
- 5) The "start-line" for the race is the time stamp in the RFC822
- Date: line of the SHORTBsmtp header as constructed by LISTSERV.
-
- 6) The "finish-line" is the time stamp in the Received: line supplied
- by the MTA making final delivery.
-
- 7) The test addresses were placed approximately in the middle of the
- list.
