- Here, at the Columbia University Health Sciences Library, we
- are considering a shift from a single Collection Development
- Librarian for monographic selection, to a system using part-time
- selectors or subject specialists (probably taken from the
- Reference librarians). We are a large library, serving as the
- library for the Presbyterian Hospital, as well as for four
- schools - medicine, dentistry, nursing, and public health. Our
- primary user population is upwards of 6,000, and last year we
- added 4,900 monographs to our collection.
-
- If any of you have had experience with such a structural
- reorganization (or are using a multi-selector system now), I
- would appreciate hearing of your experiences, problems
- encountered, structure used, etc.
-
- Please respond directly to me rather than to the List. If
- there is sufficient interest, I will be glad to summarize for the
- List.
-
- Thank you in advance!
