  11. The University of Illinois at Chicago invites applications and nominations
  12. for the Assistant University Librarian for the Health Sciences.
  13.  
  14. The AUL has administrative responsibility for the Library of the Health
  15. Sciences in Chicago and for the health sciences libraries in three
  16. regional sites: Rockford, Peoria, Urbana; and for the Greater Midwest
  17. Region of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (Region 3). LHS
  18. Chicago is the third largest in the U.S., serving a diverse clientele with
  19. a staff of 27 professionals and 73 support staff.

  21. As a member of the University Library's senior management team, the AUL
  22. participates in general administrative processes: policy, planning, budget,
  23. resource allocation, organization, communication, staff development and
  24. personnel.  The AUL is responsible for articulating the library's service
  25. goals for the health sciences community within the context of library goals.
  26.  
  27. ALA/MLS; evidence of success as a manager, leader and mentor and a commitment
  28. to public services and outreach.  Demonstrated knowledge/understanding of
  29. trends/issues in academic libraries. Desirable: Health sciences or
  30. science/technology experience in an academic or research library; experience
  31. with the application of new technologies; evidence of a commitment to
  32. librarianship through scholarly and professional achievement.

  34. Salary is competitive based on education/relevant experience.  Rank
  35. dependent on qualifications/experience; 12 month appointment. Competitive
