  12. Thanks to all who responded to my request for readable AIDS
  13. journals.  Here is a summary of the responses:

  15. It was suggested that checking NLM bibliographies on AIDS and a
  16. search in CINAHL might turn up some readable titles.
  17.  
  18. AIDS Patient Care was mentioned by two people.  It is from Mary Anne
  19. Liebert, Inc. Press, 1651 3rd Ave., NY,NY 10128.  For $75.00 for six
  20. issues a year, it covers "all aspects of care, treatment, education
  21. and prevention.  Submissions are from physicians, nurses,
  22. administrators, mental health professionals and others."

  24. The AIDS Information Sourcebook came highly recommended.  It is in
  25. its third edition and lists 93 titles of periodicals pertaining to
  26. AIDS.  Those recommended by one of its co-editors:

  28. The title above, AIDS Patient Care

  30. BETA. Bulletin of Experimental Treatments for AIDS.  San Francisco
  31. AIDS Foundation, PO BOX 2189 Berkeley, C 94702-0189.  This one is
  32. $25.00 and is geared toward the educated lay-person.

  34. AIDS Clinical Care.  Massachusetts Medical Society & American
  35. Foundation for AIDS research.  Medical Publishing Group, PO Box
  36. 9085, Waltham, MA 02254-9085.  $80.00 Geared to health care
  37. professionals.

  39. The Advocate was highly recommended as a good popular/consumer
  40. journal covering all aspects of AIDS/HIV including treatment,
  41. awarding of grants, national, state and local initiaties,
  42. legislation, discrimination, insurance, funding, impact on/in
  43. schools, etc.  It is the gay national and it was recommended that
  44. libraries order the "library" version sans personal ads so as to
  45. avoid being accused of "promoting" homosexuality.

  47. Another person recommended AIDS Targeted Information (Abstracts and
  48. Critical Comments from Current AIDS Literature)  from Williams &
  49. Wilkins, PO Box 2391 Baltimore, Maryland 21203-9990.  This
  50. recommendation came with the warning that it is not inexpensive.

  52. Another recommendation for the journal Treatment Issues, subtitled
  53. "The Gay Men's Health Crisis Newsletter of Experimental AIDS
  54. Therapies." came accross.  It reviews published and in process
  55. research as well as experimental treatments.  Designed for the
  56. professional or PWA who wants to keep up on new treatments.
