- My hunch, based on some current experience, is that such
- willingness is so much more powerfully constrained by the
- individual students' previous experience and by their
- constructions or understandings of the situation the revision is
- occurring in, that in practice we'll find it impossible to answer
- the question. There is so much variation among my students with
- respect to these issues that even if I could factor the variation
- out I'm not confident the answer would be significant. For years
- I assumed because the computer made so much difference to me it
- would make it for everyone. I'm less and less convinced.
