- I believe that Mona Van Duyn, rather than Maya Angelou, is the current Poet
- Laureate--I read a newspaper article that mentioned that Van Duyn was also
- writing a poem for the inauguration, just for the hell of it. Since the US's
- Laureateship is a 1-yr position, however, Angelou would be a natural next
- choice.
- Britain's Poet Laureate is not Derek Walcott, who spends most of his time away
- from the Caribbean here in Boston; it is Ted Hughes, widower of Sylvia Plath,
- and I must say that he's borne the stress of ungrateful commissions better than
- most.
