-
- I am installing VM TCP/IP V2R2 for the first time and I wanted to apply all
- current PTF's. It took me four shots so I thought I'd share what I learned.
-
- There are currently 70 PTF's on a corrective service tape. Thus far there
- are no PTF's on a PUT tape.
-
- Ignore the SERVICE DOCUMENT that is in file 1 of the COR tape.
-
- There is a new S5735FAL EXEC on the COR tape. Load it with:
- VMFPLC2 LOAD S5735FAL * (EOF 2
- Select the file with the latest date and rename it to S5735FAL EXEC.
-
- The S5735FAL EXEC will make a T-DISK that is too small to hold all of the
- service. Edit the exec and scan for T3380 and change the number of cylinders
- to at least 150. The EXEC will fail if there is not enough T-DISK.
-
- The EXEC puts the latest PTF's on the service disk (TCPMAINT 2C1). If this
- disk is not formatted before running the EXEC, the EXEC will fail.
-
- The size of the 2C1 disk is not big enough to hold all of the PTF's.
- If this disk is not large enough to hold all of the PTF's, the EXEC will fail.
- I had to enlarge my 3380 disk to 105 cylinders.
-
- After a successful run of S5735FAL EXEC all you have done is load all of the
- latest PTF's to the service disk. Now, you have to manually copy each
- MODULE, EXEC, etc. to the proper production disk. This step is not documneted
- anywhere, but IBM level 2 says that is the way it's done.
-
- My production TCP/IP system now uses a full single density 3380.
