  11. My AS/400 installation is transitioning from SDLC and 5394s to TCPIP and
  12. IBM's AIX-based 5250 emulator.  And I am trying to figure out
  13. the CPU utilization effect of AS/400 TCPIP on my B60.

  15. It appears that AS/400 TCPIP consists of a subsystem QTCPIP and
  16. some batch server jobs QTCPIP, QTCPTIMER, and some FTP servers.  Using
  17. some Performance Tools collected data it appears that the sum CPU seconds
  18. of the TCPIP batch jobs is significantly less that the sum of the
  19. HDLC CPU seconds (today I have up to 30 tn5250 sessions and about 130
  20. display sessions SDLC attached through multi-dropped 5394-like controllers).

  22. Is it possible that tn5250 sessions do not consume prodigious amounts
  23. of CPU compared to remote workstation attached displays?
