- After dealing with a 7171 and various modems for years this looks
- like problems with speed and parity. Remember that the 7171
- senses the speed of the connection from what it takes as the
- initial carriage return after connection is made, and requires
- 7 data bits Even parity. You need to configure the Cisco so
- that it always uses a fixed Baud rate with even parity in its
- connection to the 7171. If you've done that (assuming that it
- can be done, I don't have a Cisco) I don't have any other suggestions.
