- I am interested in purchasing a high-speed (14.4Kbps) modem for my
- 500. Will any external modem, advertised for use with any computer, work with
- my machine, provided I use the correct cabling? I know this is the case with
- 2400bps modems, but I know very little about the highspeed variety.
- Also, what should I look for in a 14.4 modem (besides price)? I can nev
- er
- keep straight between v.42, v.32, v.32bis, and all the other whatnot..
- Finally, these CCITT v.stuff modems are considered the standard for 14.4
- 's,
- right? I remember about the 9600 crisis with the US-Robotics standard and the
- CCITT standard and all the problems that caused.
-
- Thanks in advance for your help.
