- There is no MMU. It's just that Motorola keep all the registers available in the
- EC68030 that normally control the MMU *but* there is nothing 'behind' them.
- So, even though some less intelligent programs (such as the one you mention)
- will report an MMU in the system, an attempt to take advantage of MMU functions
- will fail.

- As for you second question, the answer is yes, the GVP A530 can be
- fitted with a 68030 (as opposed to the EC68030); The cost is about
- double that of an EC chip. BTW, as I understand it (and I am no authority
- as I don't own AMAX) doesn't the AMAX H/W software take care of some of the
- MMU functionality (particularly w.r.t. paging)? This may be way off base ...
