  31. On Monday February 1, 1993, Turkish president Turgut Ozal will be speaking to
  32. the council on Foreign Relations at the Fairmont Hotel at 200 North Columbus
  33. Drive (2 blocks east of Michigan Ave. &1 block south of Wacker Dr.)
  34.  
  35. THIS PUBLIC RELATIONS VISIT BY PRESIDENT OZAL APPARENTLY SHOWS THAT THE TURKISH
  36. GOVERNMENT IS CONCERNED ABOUT A POSSIBLE POLICY SHIFT BY THE CLINTON
  37. ADMINISTRATION.

  39. The Chicago Council on Justice for Cyprus has sponsored demonstrations,
  40. lectures, prayer services for the Cypriot victims of the Turkish military
  41. invasion, and picketed the Turkish Consulate in order to obtain attention and
  42. media coverage of this long standing violation of human rights.  We also
  43. send a delegation to the editorial board of the Chicago Tribune. Unfortunately
  44. despite this activity, the media and newspapers have ignored the plight of
  45. the Cypriots and the Turkish invasion and "ethnic cleansing".

  47. HOWEVER WE HAVE A ONE-TIME OPPORTUNITY TO DEMONSTRATE TO THE MEDIA AND THE
  48. PEOPLE OF CHICAGO THAT THE GREEK-AMERICAN COMMUNITY SUPPORT THE CYPRIOT
  49. CAUSE AND THE MANY U.N. RESOLUTIONS CALLING FOR THE WITHDRAWAL OF TURKISH
  50. TROOPS!
